Here at Avon Cat Rescue, we take our responsibilities as cat lovers seriously.  Our policy is:

  • We aim to give every cat another chance.
  • We never turn away a homeless cat when we have space to accommodate it.
  • We never put a cat down unless it is seriously ill.
  • We always take back any cat we have homed, for whatever reason.
  • We neuter/spay all cats of 6 months and over.
  • We have no set charge but expect a realistic donation from those taking cats and those bringing them in.
  • We do not board, but have taken cats temporarily in emergencies e.g. owners in hospital, owners evicted from their homes etc.
We aim to follow up every cat homed to check all is well, either by phone or letter.

Over the last few years we have upgraded most of our pens and thanks to our very loyal band of supporters we have completely rebuilt our Homing pens Hollies & Willows.  This cost us in the region of £40,000.
Below are photos of Hollies on the left having 7 individual pens each with a run.  On the right is Willows with 8 individual pens with runs, two of which are double size for family groups

On our website you will find information on cats we have in for re-homing, the sponsorship of our resident cats, events we have or have a stall at, our latest newsletter, a tour of the Rescue, Stories and photos of cats we have homed,  Lost/Found page and items for sale.  This site has been rebuilt as of February 26th 2009.  Further pages will be added over the next few months.  These will include back copies of our newsletters and more stories and photos of cats we have homed.

We aim to update this website regularly with news and any new arrivals along with other useful information.

We are heavily reliant on donations to cover our expenses which were nearing £50,000 for the year 2008.  We have acquired some very loyal supporters and friends over the years, and we would like to take this opportunity to thank them for their continued help and support, as without them, our achievements to date would have been made an awful lot harder and possibly may not have happened at all.

We are always in need of blankets for cat bedding, cat food, kitchen rolls, black sacks and bubble-wrap.  If you live near enough please leave any of these at the Rescue.  If you live at a distance from us perhaps you might consider buying an occasional savings stamp from somewhere like Tescos that we can convert into food.

All that remains to say is we hope you like our website, please recommend it to your friends and colleagues, and if you can make a donation as well, then we will guarantee that anything received will not be wasted and will be put to excellent use in ensuring the safety, comfort and well-being of the many cats that we help each year.
